The Microsoft Underwater Facts Center incorporates 855 servers almost 60 meters below sea degree from 2018 to current, off the coastline of Scotland, as part of an experiment to discover how they operate in underwater conditions. The goal is to find solutions to the variations in temperature that result in complications on terrestrial servers.
This center operates autonomously so that no employee damages the products. Without having human presence, it is achievable to hold the surroundings free of oxygen and substitute it with nitrogen, a gas that corrodes machinery considerably less, enterprise sources advised Deutsche Welle.
At the finish of the experiment, only 8 of the 855 servers experienced an anomaly.
As a result, Microsoft sets out to develop a community of undersea details centers, capable of web hosting 1000’s of servers.
