Microsoft officially announced Windows 11 in June. The official release and start of distribution followed in early October. The plan was set to offer the operating system to users of all reports that are eligible for the upgrade by mid-2022 (due to a combination of the presence of a legally upgradeable operating system and compatible hardware). However, if Microsoft continued to distribute at the pace it set in October, it would not reach the goal in the middle of next year, probably not even until the end.
The October distribution, although official, was of a trial nature and the number of users who appeared on the offer was significantly limited. The reason was to minimize any trouble in case there was a major problem with Windows 11. However, during October, there was no large-scale data loss or hardware damage, so Microsoft decided – starting in November – to start the distribution at full speed.
If you’re still waiting for Windows Update to offer to move to Eleven, you’re more likely to see it. Of course, those who do not insist on distribution via Windows Update can download them, for example, as ISO:
Other options include downloading the installation wizard or creating installation media. Everything is available on the official Microsoft website “Download Windows 11“.
