Microsoft gives employees a Rp22 million pandemic bonus

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Microsoft is giving its employees a pandemic bonus of US$1,500 or around Rp22 million. In an internal memo seen by The Verge, the software giant said the one-time bonus was “in recognition of the unique and challenging fiscal year that Microsoft recently completed”.

Microsoft chief people officer Kathleen Hogan announced the rewards to employees today, and will apply to all eligible employees both in the United States and internationally.

Microsoft gives this bonus to all staff below level vice presidents of companies starting on or before March 31, 2021, including part-time workers and those with hourly rates.

Microsoft has 175,508 employees worldwide, but LinkedIn, GitHub, and ZeniMax employees are not eligible for the bonus, even though Microsoft owns these three separate companies.

Similar steps have been taken by other large companies over the past year. Facebook rewards its 45,000 employees with $1,000 each.

Amazon is giving its frontline workers a $300 vacation bonus, and BT is giving its 60,000 employees 1,500 euros each.
