Microsoft Gaming Lays Off 2,000 Employees Including Activision Blizzard Teams – Latest Updates

Microsoft Gaming laid off close to 2,000 employees on the Xbox, ZeniMax and especially Activision Blizzard teams. According to unofficial sources, producers of games such as Call of Duty and Crash Bandicoot were heavily affected.

According to sources unofficialToys for Bob lost 40% of its employees and Sledgehammer Games lost 30% of its employees, as part of these new layoffs announced by Microsoft Gaming.

Phil Spencer told employees that this painful decision, which comes 3 months after the purchase of Activision Blizzard, will help the company position itself to better achieve its results, especially in cost management.

Following this news at the end of last week, Insider-Gaming’s well-known Tom Henderson says that around 35 people at Toys for Bob were left without a job, and Sledgehammer lost over 150 of its 500+ employees (out of an estimated total of 1000 employees).

With these layoffs, the video game industry in 2024 has already seen close to 6 thousand people laid off, in January alone, 60% of the total value for 2023.
