- Plenty of content is promised for this year as well
- Helicopters are coming, among other things
- And the maps are expanding further
A Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the most visually and technologically impressive games of the current generation, but developer Asobo Studio aims to support this golden egg laying hen for years to come. Asobo has now shared a more in-depth look at the contents for the first quarter of 2022, detailing the company’s plans to bring largely helicopters into the official game, as well as upcoming content releases in the coming months. The helicopters will not be released soon, with a pre-release date set for the fall of 2022. The game’s physics engine isn’t specifically designed for helicopters, which means the Asobo will have to do plenty of testing with advanced aerial simulation physics before any further progress can be made. With a thorough expansion and detailing of the Australian continent, World Update 7 arrived yesterday and World Update 8 will come in March, with a similar expansion in the Iberian Peninsula. Because the map data is generated from satellite imagery available through Bing Search, many areas require additional manual fine-tuning, which is why the team is releasing these updates more slowly than expected. The developers talked about it all in the following video:
