Microsoft fixes missing taskbar in Windows 10

Windows 10 suffered from an annoying bug where the taskbar could sometimes start with the northern sun, whether or not combined with a frozen system. Microsoft is now fixing the problem.

Windows 10 users may face a complicated problem. From time to time the taskbar disappeared and the operating system crashed. Systems running Windows 10 20H2, 21H1, 21H2 and 22H2 were affected. Microsoft has now fixed the problem.

To this end, Redmond did not roll out a new update, but Microsoft used the KIR (Known Issue Rollback) feature. This allows Microsoft to automatically roll back certain updates implemented through Windows Update. KIR only works on updates that have nothing to do with security.

Group policy

In large organizations, device administrators need to install a special Group Policy to fix the problem. You will find that policy here. Other users will have to wait a bit. It can take up to 24 hours for a KIR solution to reach all systems. A quick reboot speeds things up.

Microsoft has fixed several issues caused by recent updates. Windows Kerberos authentication has also been fixed, as has Windows DirectAccess connectivity.

Windows 10 remains Microsoft’s most popular operating system, despite the launch of Windows 11 more than a year ago. The figures show that most users have not yet implemented the update, although not all devices are compatible.
