Microsoft: Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy VII and Silent Hill 2 remakes will never be released on Xbox due to Sony

In the documents sent to the British antitrust regulator to study the transaction between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, the Redmond company noted that four major games will never be released on Xbox due to Sony’s actions. The Japanese company allegedly “blocked” access to the publications by entering into a special agreement with each of the local publishers.

The list includes:

  • Final Fantasy VII Remake (Square Enix);
  • Final Fantasy XVI (Square Enix);
  • re-release of Silent Hill 2 (developed by Bloober Team, published by Konami).

Microsoft has also indicated Transmitted by blood from FromSoftware as an example of a project from a third-party studio that was previously held hostage by the PlayStation platforms and has not been released anywhere but on Sony’s systems.

We recall that the British regulator must issue a verdict on the agreement by March 2023.
