Microsoft, Facebook, Google, Reddit and Twitter work together against disinformation – IT Pro – News

Great initiative! Could it also be extended in the future to fake news about elections in an unnamed country consisting of 51 states?

As a doctor in training for SO (especially elderly medicine), it is quite difficult times (not yet) because of the increase in workload, but because we brace ourselves collectively. That peak will come, which is inevitable, and all measures taken in the framework “flatten the curve” are life-saving for patients and also to make our profession function a little.

I find the misinformation that is distributed, including via WhatsApp, really painful. I am also called to respond to such matters. Drink warm water with salt in it. “Drink diluted chlorine” “wash your hands with chlorine products” “it’s a hoax” “there are hundreds of thousands of deaths in China” “when you start coughing your lungs are 50% fibrosis”. See, for example, those tweets from that Jordan Sather. What a semi-informed economy!
Some of these things are stupid, some dangerous, panic-striving or unfairly reassuring. And they all have in common that they really do not contribute at all to good care.

It is very, very good that social media are now putting a stop to this. They really don’t have to stop 100% everything, but as 75% of those reposts my day just got a lot easier.

And keep washing those hands, people. 20 seconds and dry well!
