In September this year, it was announced Microsoft It will bring its Copilot AI assistant and new AI-powered experiences to multiple apps in the next Windows 11 update, but it looks like the company may have good news for Windows 10 users as well.

Citing sources, the Windows Central technical website stated that Microsoft will add a Copilot button to the Windows 10 taskbar, which will open the Copilot sidebar interface exactly as it was previewed in Windows 11.

The report said this is being done because it could help the tech giant reach about 1 billion users who are still using Windows 10. In comparison, about 400 million users are using Windows 11 on their computers.

The importance of this step for Microsoft

According to the report, the move will make it easier for Microsoft to sell developers on the idea that they should create plugins for Copilot for 1.4 billion users, compared to 400 million users on Windows 11.

“The more Copilot users there are, the more reason a developer will program Copilot instead of a competitor,” the report noted. The report also claims that Copilot for Windows 10 will offer the same functionality found in Windows 11.

More features for Windows 10

Microsoft is also said to be working on bringing more Windows 11 features to Windows 10. The report indicated that Microsoft will continue to support Windows 10 until October 2025. There have been ongoing internal discussions regarding extending the support period but no decision has been made yet.
