Microsoft officially announced the end of support for the first version of the Surface Duo phone. The company will not release any future updates for the phone.
Microsoft had announced the dual-screen phone in October 2019 with the Android 10 operating system, making it the only Surface device that did not run the Windows operating system. Microsoft later updated the phone to Android 11 and then Android 12.
The phone features an ultra-thin body with strong hinges, and two large OLED screens that make the phone foldable like a small notebook.
Microsoft’s announcement to stop support for “Surface Duo” comes as an end to the life cycle of the device, which has been plagued by many problems since the initial announcement of the device.
Microsoft presented the Surface Duo phone to the public without support for 5G networks or NFC technology, and the company also postponed the launch of the phone in the market for a full year.
