Microsoft ends more activities in Russia due to war | NOW

Microsoft is withdrawing from Russia because of the war in Ukraine. The company stopped selling new products and services in the country in March. Microsoft continued to support existing Russian customers and the offices remained open.

The activities in Russia are being significantly scaled down, the company told the news agency on Wednesday Bloomberg know. Microsoft cites “the changes in the economic outlook and the impact on operations in Russia” as the reason.

Microsoft pledges to honor existing contractual obligations to Russian customers. The stop on sales remains in effect.

According to a Microsoft spokesperson, the decision affects more than 400 employees. “We are working closely with affected employees to ensure they are treated with respect and receive our full support during this difficult time.”

Many major Western companies have ceased operations in Russia after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Tech group IBM has suspended its operations in the country and Apple and Nike have ceased sales. The German business software maker SAP also said it was working towards an “orderly exit” from Russia in April.
