Microsoft End of technical and security support for Windows 7 Extended Security Update (ESU) and Windows 8/8.1 starting today (10/1). How to switch or upgrade to an alias operating system operating system latest (operating system) like Windows 10 and 11?
“Both operating systems (Windows 7 and Windows 8) will no longer be supported as of January 10,” Microsoft said on its official website last month (9/12/2022). “End of support applies to Evergreen and Fixed versions of WebView2 Runtime.”
After support ends, both Windows 7 and 8/8.1 users can download Evergreen WebView2 Runtime version 109. Microsoft Edge version 109 and WebView2 Runtime version 109 will be released on January 12th.
However, those versions will not receive any new features, security updates, or fixes insect. This means that the device is vulnerable to cyber attacks.
Microsoft Edge version 109 will also be the last supported version for Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
Microsoft confirms that WebView2 SDK version 1.0.1519.0 and later will no longer support Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1.
“To get the new version of Microsoft Edge or WebView2 Runtime with the latest features and security, upgrade to Windows 10 or later,” Microsoft said.
