Microsoft promises emojis in three dimensions, but fails to deliver by including a 2D design
In July of this year, Microsoft had promised new three-dimensional emojis for the new Windows 11 operating system. But, as several users could see, the company ended up opting for a two-dimensional look.
The information is confirmed on the Twitter account of Brandon LeBlanc, the company’s program manager, who also claims that Microsoft “used wrong graphics” in previous tweets.

The reason for the change of plans is not known, but several experts say that this may be due to the fact that the two-dimensional designs work better in the most diverse equipment.
On the other hand, the three-dimensional design may also look different on some screens and resolutions. And to maintain a consistent representation of its emojis for all Windows 11 users, Microsoft may have preferred to resort to 2D design.
