Microsoft cuts quarterly forecasts due to the adverse impact of a stronger dollar

June 02, 2022 at 10:16 a.m.

MADRID, 2 (EUROPA PRESS)

In this way, Microsoft anticipates that its net profit in the quarter will range between 16,850 and 17,430 million dollars (15,759 and 16,302 million euros), which represents a cut of 1.5 percent compared to the previous range of net profit between 17,100 and 17,670 million dollars (15,993 and 16,526 million euros).

Likewise, Microsoft’s diluted earnings per share in the last quarter will be between 2.24 and 2.32 dollars, when it previously anticipated a range between 2.28 and 2.32 dollars per share.

Microsoft accounts between April and June will be particularly affected by the evolution of the exchange rate, which will subtract 460 million dollars (430 million euros) from the multinational’s quarterly income.

In this way, the company expects to invoice between 51,940 and 52,740 million dollars (48,578 and 49,327 million euros), compared to the previously managed range of between 52,400 and 53,200 million dollars (49,008 and 49,757 million euros).

Microsoft shares fell almost four percent this Thursday after the cut in quarterly forecasts announced by the company, although they managed to partially erase the falls to 1.8 percent about to complete the second hour of trading on Wall Street .
