Microsoft has announced a redesign of its AI assistant, now called Microsoft Copilot, for Android, iOS, and web apps. The company is preparing for a major advertising campaign at the upcoming Super Bowl, and the redesign aims to enhance the user experience of the mobile apps for Copilot.
Previously, the Copilot app for Android was a simple AI chatbot experience that allowed users to type or speak their prompts. It also featured GPT-4 integration and could be used without signing in. However, the new redesign brings a fresh look to Copilot across all platforms.
According to a blog post by Microsoft, the new design is described as “cleaner” and “sleeker.” The centerpiece of the redesign is a carousel of suggestions that showcases the various capabilities of the AI assistant. Some examples of these suggestions include creating an image for a fantasy football team featuring an animal wearing a football helmet, developing a unique menu centered around avocados for a watch party, creating an image of a concept kitchen island with dark wood and a white countertop, and generating ideas for wacky new products that might be popular in 2025.
Each time the app is used, the carousel loads up with fresh ideas, providing users with inspiration and guidance. The carousel is prominently displayed above the text, voice, and image input prompts. In addition to this, the redesign introduces dedicated experiences such as “Designer,” “Vacation planner,” “Cooking assistant,” and “Fitness trainer” in a sidebar. Users also have the option to subscribe to Copilot Pro and enable GPT-4 for enhanced creativity in the results.
One notable change in the new design is the removal of any ties to Bing. This gives Copilot a distinct identity as a Microsoft product rather than being perceived as a spinoff from Bing.
Microsoft also shared some impressive statistics in their blog post, revealing that over 5 billion chats and 5 billion images have been created with Copilot to date. This showcases the popularity and widespread usage of the AI assistant.
With the redesign, Microsoft aims to provide users with a more visually appealing and intuitive experience when interacting with Copilot. The new look, combined with the enhanced functionality and dedicated experiences, positions Copilot as a versatile and powerful AI assistant that can assist users in various aspects of their lives.
As Microsoft gears up for its Super Bowl advertising campaign, the redesigned Copilot is set to make a splash in the AI market. With its sleek design and innovative features, Copilot is ready to take on the competition and establish itself as a leading AI assistant for Android, iOS, and web apps.
