Microsoft confirms Xbox Wireless Controller shortages – Gaming – News

Supply chain issues mean there aren’t enough Xbox Wireless Controllers to meet consumer demand. Microsoft has confirmed that. The supply of controllers is low, resulting in rising prices.

In the Netherlands, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, among others, there is little supply of Xbox Wireless Controllers. Microsoft admits to VGC that consumers are likely to hard to get to the controllers† According to the company, this is due to undisclosed disruptions in the supply chain.

“We are working as hard as we can with our manufacturing and retail partners to make it better,” the company said. Microsoft does not announce when improvement is expected. In the Dutch store of Microsoft itself, the wireless Xbox controller is only available in white at the time of writing, in the other colors is the controller sold out.

In the Pricewatch, the white version is sold out, as is the black version. The controller is still limited available in blue, for significantly higher prices than the introductory price of 60 euros. One of the two web stores with stock, for example, sells it for 208 euros.

The Xbox Series X itself has been hard to come by since its release in October 2020 due to chip shortages, as has its competitor, Sony’s PlayStation 5. It is unknown what the exact reason behind the controller shortages is and whether shortages of other accessories can be expected. However, there are lockdowns due to corona outbreaks in China, which affect various supply chains.
