Meh, that has been the same with every new Windows version. When Windows 95 came out, complete wars were fought between supporters of Windows 3.11 and Windows 95. With the outcome of XP, entire tribes claimed that Windows 95 or Windows 98 or some even Windows ME was much better. With Vista, 7, 10 and now 11 again, there are always large groups of people who claim that the new OS would be a backwards step on the previous OS.
In my view, only two versions have really flopped: ME and Vista.
ME was also meant to flop; it was an attempt to squeeze the last bit of money out of the 16-bit processor market. It must also have been deliberately made so poorly, to force people to a 32-bit processor.
Vista is explained by the fact that MS realized that they had messed with Longhorn. They had spent way too much time on Longhorn and then suddenly an alternative had to come quickly, otherwise the marketing department would have nothing to do.
Anyway, for the market dominance of Windows it all makes little Flauss aus.
Microsoft can just afford a flop with an OS. If necessary, they will also keep Windows 10 up and running for 14 years, just like XP
