Microsoft announces Surface Laptop Studio with repositionable 120Hz display – Computer – News

Microsoft introduces its Surface Laptop Studio. This notebook also features ‘Dynamic Woven Hinge’ hinge, which allows the 14.4″ screen to be positioned in different ways, just like the company’s Surface Studio PhD PC.

Microsoft reports during its Surface presentation that the Surface Laptop Studio is the successor of the Surface Book 3. The new Studio variant has a PixelSense Flow screen with a resolution of 2400×1600 pixels, a screen ratio of 3:2 and a refresh rate up to 120Hz. This screen is mounted on a special hinge, which allows the screen to be placed in three different ‘modes’, just like the larger Surface Studio all-in-one PC that Microsoft has been selling for years.

The Surface Laptop Studio supports three screen modes, namely laptop, stage and studio. In laptop mode, the screen is positioned like a normal laptop. In stage mode, users can pull the screen forward for a viewing angle more suitable for gaming or watching videos. In studio mode, the screen is placed flat on top of the keyboard, allowing users to draw, sketch, or annotate with a Surface Slim Pen 2 stylus.

The Surface Laptop Studio comes with 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake-H processors with 35W TDP. Microsoft introduces i5 and i7 models. In addition, the i5 variants use the integrated Intel Xe GPU, while the i7 variants come with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU with 4GB video memory. The business i7 variant can also be equipped with an Nvidia RTX A2000 GPU. Users can also choose from 16GB or 32GB of soldered Lpddrx4 memory and up to 2TB SSD storage.

The laptop also gets two USB-C connections with Thunderbolt 4 support, a Surface Connect port and a 3.5mm jack for audio. The laptop supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. The integrated 1080p webcam offers Windows Hello facial recognition and the trackpad offers haptic feedback.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio will be available in the Netherlands from early 2022, the company reports. A specific release date has not yet been announced. The device also receives a suggested retail price from 1699 euros, but Microsoft does not report which configuration Dutch buyers receive for that amount.
