Ll be increasing the prices for its Xbox Series X console and Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
Starting November 9th, the Xbox Series X will see a price increase of $50, bringing the total cost to $549. This news comes as a disappointment to many gamers who were already planning on purchasing the highly anticipated console.
Additionally, the Xbox Game Pass subscription service will also be seeing a price hike. The monthly subscription price will increase to $12.99, up from the previous price of $9.99. However, it’s important to note that existing subscribers will not be affected by this increase until their next billing cycle.
Microsoft claims that the price increase is necessary to continue delivering a high-quality gaming experience to its customers. The company has been investing heavily in the Xbox ecosystem, with recent acquisitions of influential game studios like Bethesda Softworks. These acquisitions have come at great cost, which the company needs to recoup.
Moreover, Microsoft is also planning on introducing a new subscription tier called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which will combine Xbox Game Pass with Xbox Live Gold. This new tier will be available for $17.99 per month, providing gamers with access to a vast library of games and online multiplayer features.
Despite the price increase, Microsoft believes that its offerings still provide great value for gamers. The Xbox Series X offers powerful hardware and advanced features, while the Xbox Game Pass provides access to a wide variety of games, including new releases from first-party studios on the day of their launch.
Microsoft’s decision to raise prices has sparked some backlash from the gaming community, with many expressing their disappointment on social media. Some argue that the price increase is not justified, especially considering the ongoing global economic challenges. Others fear that this move could create accessibility issues for gamers who might find it difficult to afford these higher prices.
It remains to be seen how this price increase will impact the sales and popularity of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass. As the gaming industry continues to evolve, it is important for companies like Microsoft to find a balance between delivering quality experiences and maintaining affordable prices for their customers.
