Microsoft Announces Closure of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family Program in Eight Countries

Microsoft announced the closure of its Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family program in eight countries where it previously launched a service that allowed Xbox Games Pass owners to share the benefits of a subscription with up to four friends or family members. So far, there are no indications that the feature may return in the future.

What is known

A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed to Eurogamer that the Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family program will be discontinued on August 15th. The company initially launched the feature, calling it a test, but it later admitted that it was a pre-release test of a pilot project in select countries.

Everyone who participated in the test will receive Xbox Game Pass Ultimate codes as a “thank you for participating,” according to Xbox support article.
