From the popular game call of Duty will be released for Nintendo game consoles. Microsoft has signed a 10-year deal with the Japanese game console maker.
European and American regulators are considering whether Microsoft call of Dutythe manufacturer Activision could acquire Blizzard. There are fears that popular games will soon only be playable on Microsoft’s Xbox due to the deal.
The agreement between Microsoft and Nintendo is still conditional on the completion of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The operation, announced earlier this year, is for an amount of 69 billion dollars (almost 66 billion euros).
The purchase from the developer of the game, which is also behind titles such as World of Warcraft in Guitar hero it would make Microsoft the third largest game company in the world.
The European Commission, among others, is investigating the proposed acquisition. Microsoft has already tried concerned gamers and regulators reassure with the comment that call of Duty will also remain available for the PlayStation of competitor Sony.
Sony strongly opposes the takeover
Since Microsoft’s offer, which amounts to the deal with Nintendo, is temporary, Sony says it’s not enough.
Microsoft is confident that regulators will approve the acquisition. The company expects the transaction to close before the summer. Microsoft executives will discuss the deal with the US Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday.
Microsoft said call of Duty I also want to offer it on Valve’s Steam platform when the game is released on Xbox. “Our intention is to become more relevant across more screens,” said Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division Bloomberg. “We have a pretty clear idea of how to build a win-win relationship with Nintendo and, frankly, Sony.”
