Of course we all run into compatibility with our current hardware, which is annoying, especially with a relatively young system. But that hardware certification that makes TPM2.0 possible makes it just that little bit more difficult for attackers of your hardware. That is also worth something. Well, what exactly? And how can that extra security be quantified? Will this argument resonate with regular users?

Apparently it’s been enough for Microsoft to throw its full weight into the fray. This is of course significant in itself, and should not just be brushed aside. A disclaimer is that at the moment, apart from the clatter of weapons, we are not yet able to estimate how stringent that requirement will turn out.
