This will give a lot of room to improve the performance of a number of games.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Microsoft allows Xbox developer Series S to increase console memory. This will give a lot of space to access the game and improve performance a number of gim.
The company’s development team shipped the June Game Development Kit on Thursday and brought a gift of additional memory for developers to allocate to the Xbox Series S. In a video explaining the new features included with the kit, the team says hundreds of megabytes will help developers improve graphics performance.
Since its launch in 2020, developers have been experiencing memory issues for the Xbox Series S. The console comes with only 10GB of RAM while the Xbox Series X only carries 16GB of RAM. However, the operating system for Xbox Series S consumes only 2GB of RAM, leaving 8GB of RAM for developers.
Reported Digital Trends, Friday (5/8/2022), Digital Foundry pointed out the Xbox Series S memory constraint in an episode of the DF Direct Weekly podcast that expressed the frustration of the developers. They heard from the developer that the limited amount of memory the console gave them was a bigger problem than its CPU and GPU power.
Their complaints about memory constraints condensed into a resolution. The graphics hardware for the Xbox Series S doesn’t pack as much power as the Xbox Series X.
Xbox Series X runs games in 4K resolution with a maximum resolution of 8K. Though Microsoft doesn’t give an exact number of megabytes that will free up memory space on the Xbox Series S, but the move to increase memory should help developers.
