Microsoft has announced that it has stopped blocking the installation of the update Windows 11 22H2, which on some systems with video cards from the GeForce family caused a drop in performance in games and some other programs. The company believes that the problem has finally been resolved.
The developer sometimes blocks software updates – this is done after reports of problems arising from them have been confirmed. In mid-November, Microsoft officially confirmedthat Windows 11 22H2 may cause performance drops in games. The problem was attributed to the fact that when starting some programs, including games, the GPU debugging functions were spontaneously activated, which are not used by ordinary users. The company has placed an update lock on potentially error-prone systems.
The company announced the lifting of the restrictive measure last Wednesday: the Windows 11 22H2 update became available on December 14th thanks to a package that fixes the problem KB5020044which was released on November 29th. Microsoft has also warned that if no other restrictive measures are applied to a particular machine, the system could offer the update within 48 hours after the block is lifted.
