Okay, so as a manager I could see how much text someone had created, translated, rewritten etc, and now I can see what their ‘the adaptation of technology’ is like. Without any explanation what that is. When I now look at the stats, I see that all my employees understand how search and replace and commenting works. Things I KNOW they can do otherwise they were long gone.
The job of a manager is to see the output of an employee and, if it is not okay, to discuss it. As soon as possible, before problems get bigger. When I can see that an employee has rewritten a text several times to get to something better, I am happy. When I see that someone has written a curvy text at the last minute, I want to have a chat.
A control tool? Yep …. But we’re talking about people I pay. If they prefer to do something else for an hour, they log out and play with the children. If someone only wants to work between midnight and 6am, fine. Gladly. But if I am targeting you, I would like to see what your output is.
If you do not want that you will work on another contract. I pay many of the people who work for me for the output, not per hour. Then you work when you want, how often you want and how hard you want. I have nothing to say about it. But if you tell me you work between 0900 and 1700 and I see zero activity, I’ll call you. You may have been doing research without reporting it,
I pay my employees really well. Really. But then the hours you say you work are really verifiable.
