The Microsoft Activision Blizzard agreement, which has taken the gaming world by storm in the last few days, has once again been on the agenda with a new decision. New news has come from the persuasion efforts that have been going on for a long time in the European Union, UK and USA commissions. So much so that the European Commission postponed the date when the case would be concluded. Let’s take a look at the details of the news together.
The European Commission postponed the final decision of the Microsoft Activision Blizzard agreement!
The European Commission announced that it will make its final decision on this previously controversial agreement on April 22. Now, after Microsoft’s concessions, this decision has been postponed to May 22. Although many of these concessions are not disclosed, the concessions are thought to be Microsoft’s Call of Duty agreements with rival companies.
Announcing in February that it signed ten-year deals to bring Call of Duty to GeForce Now and Nintendo platforms, Microsoft signed similar deals last week with cloud gaming platforms Boosteroid and Ubitus.
Although the European Commission will make its decision in May, Microsoft won the approval after the Nintendo and NVIDIA agreements, according to Reuters. The European Commission then decided to postpone it to wait for feedback on Microsoft’s concessions.
Although the situation seems to be positive in the European Commission, it is not the same in the UK. The UK Competition and Trade Commission has previously requested Microsoft to buy only a certain share of Activision Blizzard. For this reason, it seems that it will take a long time to reach full agreement in the agreement.
Even if EU regulators approve the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Microsoft still needs to convince regulators in the US and UK. The UK Commission, which will announce its decision on April 26, has clearly stated that it expects more concessions from Microsoft. On the US side, the company had the opportunity to examine many documents that could help its case.
