Microsoft accidentally showed a prototype of the upcoming Windows with a floating taskbar and status bar in the manner of macOS

Western media, which recently watched Microsoft Ignite presentations, noted that at some point on the screen they show a version of Windows that is clearly different from the current Windows 11.

The video was later confirmed by the author. Central Windows Zach Bowden, who claimed to have previously seen this prototype of the upcoming Windows. It is called Next Valley and will be released in 2024.

In a couple of screens, you can see the status bar in the top right corner, the search box in the top center, and the weather widget on the left. The bottom taskbar is similar to the one in Windows 11, only now it floats in the form of an island.

Bowden noted that with this design, Microsoft hopes to achieve a more convenient touch screen experience without harming mouse and keyboard owners.

This summer, Bowden just said Microsoft will be returning to release a new version of Windows every three yearsand will also release Moments updates for the current operating system (similar to the Service Pack).
