Microcredit in circulation reached 8.5 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of September 2022, compared to 8.24 billion dirhams at the end of September 2021, an increase of 2.17%, according to the National Federation of microcredit associations (FNAM). ).
The cumulative amount of loans issued in the first nine months of 2022 amounted to 584 million dirhams (MDH) against 522 MDH at the end of September 2021, an increase of 11.82%, notes the FNAM in a publication on the results of the sector.
For its part, the number of active customers decreased during the third quarter (Q3-2022), going from 898,053 active customers to 838,964, a decrease of 4.98%, the same source said.
The distribution of customers by geographical area shows a preponderance at the urban level, i.e. 542,020 customers against 296,944 customers in urban areas.
By loan category, the FNAM notes that the most common type of loan among beneficiaries is the individual loan with 633,512 customers, followed by the solidarity loan (185,742 customers) and the loan to very small businesses (19,710 customers).
The FNAM is the main interlocutor of the microfinance sector at the national level, which aims to align the sector with international best practices and to professionalize its activities.
