The pandemic has enabled many Charlevoix residents to refine their business plan and they have also made greater use of Microcredit Charlevoix services.
In the past three years, the organization has experienced growth in the number of people who have used its services. It went from 102 in 2018-2019 to 154 in 2020-2021. Of these, 65 are new customers.
For 2020-2021, seven loans were granted for a total amount of $ 58,379, which represents four loans less than last year. “We have seen a significant increase since the beginning of April since we have already reached 12 loans granted, which shows that people have waited for their project to be complete before applying for their loans. We have also had several projects in agriculture, which is an effect of the pandemic in which Charlevoix residents have encouraged them to buy local, ”notes General Manager Martine Lévesque.
Collective support remains essential for Microcredit Charlevoix. This support in the entrepreneurial process takes place in a series of 10 meetings at a rate of 3 hours per week where various topics related to starting a business are discussed.
With regard to the interest on loans granted for the start-up of a business, it is put back into the capital, which represents more than $ 25,000 in 20 years which has been added to the capital available.
