He had to take a two-year break due to the pandemic, and on January 20 the gala evening of sport was invited again to the Brucknerhaus in Linz. Once again, the traditional event, organized by OÖ Nachrichten together with LIVA and with the support of main sponsor Oberbank, offers the opportunity to touch many greats of the sporting world first-hand, some in new roles, with unexpected talent.
For example, Hans Krankl, who celebrates his 70th birthday on February 14, is not only a guest as a football legend, but can also be seen singing on stage. Like “Johann K.” rocks the central hall with his band “Monti Beton”. “When he sings, Krankl is as disciplined and ambitious as he was as a footballer. Before a performance, he trains like before a game,” says event all-rounder Ralph “The Voice” Schader, who, as a longtime partner Krankl’s date, was his musical partner in the dribbling spotlight.
Tested guests from “Dancing Stars”.
Double ski world champion Lizz Görgl has even found a second mainstay in music: She has already brought eight songs into the charts. The former Dancing Stars participant will present samples of her passion away from the slopes in the Brucknerhaus. Krankl, on the other hand, consistently refuses to move his leg: According to his own statements, he has refused to participate in the ORF show as a “Dancing Star” at least ten times: “I’m not a dancer. I can be funny when I I feel uncomfortable”, says the “Goleador”.
This certainly does not apply to her: the moderator Silvia Schneider, who reached the final with the “Dancing Stars”. She has remained true to her discovered love for the dance floor as a competitive dancer. At her side as moderator in the Brucknerhaus: the Ö3 microman Tom Walek. The musical prelude to the gala evening will be provided by Laakirchner singer Eric Papilaya with a medley of his favorite songs from him. An invitation to dance still comes from the tried and tested pt art orchestra, before the local heroes of the “Folkshilfe” start playing at midnight.
News from “Folkshilfe” in March
When the troop (“Mir laungts”) performed at the athletes gala in 2018, they heated up the smaller hall at 10pm. Since then the band has been on the road to success and will present their new album “Vivre” on March 31st. “We felt a stronger need to write great songs, to focus on the writing, to tell stories that people can relate to, maybe even stories from my own life that have impressed me,” says Folkshilfe-Sänger Florian Ritt and attests to the new album “much more substance and depth” than previous songs.
