Michoacán provides free tests to detect breast cancer

*Mammography is a safe and effective study for patients from 40 to 69 years of age.

Morelia, Michoacán, March 6, 2023.- Within the framework of International Women’s Day, the Government of Michoacán invites the female population between 40 and 69 years of age to undergo a free mammography at the Medical Specialties Unit dedicated to Breast Cancer (Uneme Dedicam).

In this clinic of the Michoacán Health Secretariat (SSM), medical personnel provide comprehensive care to patients from the moment they request an appointment, undergo a mammogram and receive the result, which is delivered within a period of no more than seven business days after taking the study.

If the diagnosis is positive, the user is referred to the State Cancer Care Center (CEAO) for specialized studies to confirm the stage of the disease to start the appropriate treatment, which is free for women without social security in the entity.

Breast cancer is curable in its early stages, hence the importance of women between the ages of 40 and 69 having a mammogram every 12 months. To schedule an appointment, those interested can dial the telephone lines 443 315 4616 and 443 324 6133, or go from Monday to Friday to the Uneme Dedicam facilities, located at Calle Guillermo Roquet 250, Colonia Poblado Ocolusen, next to the Morelia Women’s Hospital.

Other places where women can go to request a free mammogram is the General Hospital “Dr. Miguel Silva, the State Cancer Care Center (CEAO), the mobile units that tour the state and the general hospitals of Zamora, Zitácuaro, Uruapan and La Piedad.
