– It was a special moment. My whole life passed before my eyes, from childhood to adulthood, that we are in such a place that all of Poland is waiting for success and we have achieved it – commented Michniewicz.

The selector drew attention to the fact that at the beginning of his term of office there were many critical voices about this candidacy. On the cover of “Przegląd Sportowy” there appeared an image of Michniewicz with the caption “He divided Poland”.

– I would like to thank the person without whom I would not be here. He went against the tide, against seemingly wise heads, against critics and journalists. He trusted me. I am talking about the president, Czarku Kulesza, who trusted me. Today we celebrate together. It was written that I divided Poland, then tomorrow it should be written that I have connected this Poland in some way, although I do not expect it – Michniewicz noticed.

The trainer was also asked about Kamil Glik’s health. The center-back played the match despite being injured.

– Kamil had a slight injury. I think most players with this injury wouldn’t even make it to the warm-up. But he said he would try, today he said we should be on standby. But how is Kamil, as long as the leg is not broken, he plays. I have great respect for him – the coach emphasized.
