Czesław Michniewicz has not received a contract extension from the PZPN and will therefore cease to be a coach at the end of the year of the Polish national team. Although the manager achieved his goals, criticism of his style of play, the bonus scandal and the subsequent background to the case had a significant impact on his resignation. It turns out that Michniewicz v at all he did not expect that the PZPN would not give him another chance.
This is how Michniewicz reacted to the decision
The bonus scandal caused a significant image crisis in the PZPN and the Polish national team. With each passing day, there was more and more money for the players that Michniewicz would have to negotiate with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Also, there were rumors about his conflict with Jakub Kwiatkowski, spokesman for the team. Thus, the coach’s guilt over the existing problems grew and rumors arose that Cezary Kulesza would not extend his contract for 2023.
This is what happened, and on December 22, PZPN announced that it was terminating its partnership with Michniewicz at the end of this year. The recruiter must have been very disappointed by this fact. From his point of view, previous meetings with Kulesza, the vice presidents and the board of PZPN went well, which is why he focused on extending the contract. To date we have not received official thanks and farewells after a year of work with the national team.
– Czesław Michniewicz was so surprised that when he learned from Cezary Kulesza that he was gone, he immediately went to the elevator and got off. I’m not saying he didn’t say hello, because he still has time for that, but that’s not how a man shot between his eyes reacts. It seems to me that he was convinced that it would be an educational interview, but the contract would be extended – he said in the program “Let’s talk about football” Janusz Basałaj, who formerly headed the media and communication department of PZPN.
According to media reports, after the conflict Michniewicz With Kwiatkowski, the players had to let Kulesza know that they could not imagine further collaboration trainer and demanded a change of manager. No one thanked or greeted him on social media.
PZPN is already looking for a new coach. There are many rumors that this time he will focus on the foreign option. The new national coach will have just over two months to prepare for the first matches Euro 2024 qualifying. In March, Poland will play the Czech Republic and Albania, their most serious group rivals.
