Michelsen about Solskjær’s role: – Had been very funny

– It’s sad for Ole Gunnar. He’s done a fantastic job at Manchester United, but that’s the way it is. It’s a tough industry, and it’s not just-just running the world’s biggest football club.

The Kristiansund coach was full of praise for Solskjær and his almost three-year period at Manchester United when he met the press after the three-goal loss against Stabæk on Sunday night.

– I think he has got the club on the right track again. The team he took over three years ago was nothing. It was off course, but he has got them where they should be, Michelsen says to TV 2, and continues:

Solskjær contributed to KBK promotion

– Now Manchester United is a bunch of hungry, young and forward-thinking players, so you can probably wonder if everyone was equally eager and went in the same direction, but I think Ole Gunnar has done a fantastic job there.

Ever since childhood, Michelsen and Solskjær have been close friends. In the time after he last lost his job on the football island, the United legend was a fixture at Kristiansund’s training sessions – and became an important contributor to the fact that his best friend led Kristiansund to the historic promotion in 2015.

– Allow to dream

In a comment in Tidens Krav, the local newspaper is now freeing to get the city’s big son involved again – into an overall sporting role.

«KBK has never had a sports director. Terje Wiik is a sports manager, but has a full-time job next door. Hiring Solskjær as chief sports officer in the club will not be a cheap solution, but if investorsr and the business community in general says no to such a model, they should perhaps consider spending their money on other things», The journalist writes behind the comment, before continuing:

“It is at least allowed to dream.”

In an interview with licensee Discovery before yesterday’s match, Michelsen pointed out that he thinks Solskjær needs a little break.

– But Ole Gunnar has contributed in both Molde, Clausenengen and KBK, so it would have been very fun if he had contributed here at some point, Michelsen explains to TV 2.

– At some point I will probably come back

The Kristiansund-born defender Erlend Sivertsen also thinks a Solskjær return home would have been exciting.

– It would have been nice to get him into KBK. He’s a nice guy.

In an emotional farewell interview with Manchester United published on Sunday night, Solskjær said that he will spend time with the family in the future. They have moved back to Norway.

– I hope that he (the next manager) is successful, and hopefully I have laid the foundation for that to happen, because I know that I am good at what I do. I am one hundred percent sure that creating a football environment is where I am good and that at some point I will probably come back (to work with football).
