On Sunday night locally, the stage was set for the magnificent Screen Actors Guild Awards, better known as the SAG Awards, in Los Angeles. Like the Oscars and the Golden Globes, this is one of the really big award ceremonies in Hollywood.
Surprised on the red carpet
Several celebrities turned up to honor the members of the Screen Actors Guild and to accept awards for the various productions in 2022. But it is of course not only the awards that get attention during such an event.

The outfits also get a lot of column space. This year, actress Michelle Yeoh (60) is responsible for most of the reactions. She showed up in a Schiaparelli creation – a black, tight-fitting dress with a fringe of gold sequins along the front.
Ridiculed
The 60-year-old was nominated, and won, for his work in the film “Everything Everywhere All at Once”. During the acceptance speech, she used the opportunity to dedicate the award to all young girls who look like her.

Several have now taken to Twitter to comment on her dress, and also the noise it is said to have made during the acceptance speech. The fringes must have come too close to the microphone and done their part to create noise. Page Six is among the media that have covered the case.
“Love Michelle Yeoh’s french fries dress, it goes well with sausage fingers,” wrote one person on Twitter.
“Oh no, Michelle Yeoh’s french fries dress is ruining her speech,” writes another.

The dress is not only compared to French fries – several also believe that the gold decoration looks like paper from a shredding machine.

“Michelle Yeoh’s dress must have been on sale at Office Depot. Chic way to reuse shredded paper,” writes one Twitter.
“I love Michelle Yeoh but I don’t love the shredded paper on her dress attacking the microphone,” writes another and refers to the noise during the acceptance speech.
A third SAG Awards spectator uses the opportunity to write on social media that the dress is simply not particularly nice.
“So happy for Michelle Yeoh, but it’s the ugliest dress ever.”
Yeoh has so far not commented on the dress criticism.
