Michelle Coleman wins European Championship in 50 meter freestyle.
It is the Swede’s first individual championship gold.
– I really am completely lyrical, says the 30-year-old in SVT.
Coleman took the lead straight away.
She led after the first 25 – and held off back into the finish line.
– It is absolutely incredible. I am so incredibly proud of myself that I made it to this race. I haven’t won individual medals in nine years. It’s an incredible feeling to succeed after fighting for so long, she says.
“Is there someone to treat”
Previously, the 30-year-old has contributed to Swedish team gold in both the European Championship and the World Cup.
– If there is anyone to win an individual gold, it is Michelle Coleman, says SVT’s expert Lars Frölander.
The Swede swam in a personal best 23.52.
Closest behind was Frenchwoman Beryl Gastaldello, while the bronze medal went to Julie Kepp Jensen from Denmark.
Swedish successful startup
Both Sweden and Coleman have had a great start at the short track EC in Bucharest.
As recently as yesterday, she won the team title during the first day of competition.
