Horeca site Misset published the names of the newcomers and also reports that another eight restaurants have been delighted with a first star. Whether stars have been lost has not been accidentally revealed; this will only be announced by Michelin on Monday, according to the original schedule.
At the Michelin Guide, director Werner Loens is in all states: “We are in an emergency meeting,” he says, but the ‘red guide’ will come with a response later.
The newcomers with a star are, according to the information that accidentally appeared on the British Michelin app: De Nieuwe Winkel in Nijmegen, Meliefste in Wolphaartsdijk, Castle Heemstede in Houten, Zeezout in Rotterdam, Daalder in Amsterdam, Pieters Restaurant in Bergambacht, Wils in Amsterdam and Tilia in Etten-Leur.
Remarkable
Especially the award of two stars to Hans van Wolde is remarkable. For years he carried two stars in his Maastricht restaurant Beluga, until he sold it in 2019. The new restaurant Brut172, located in a farm in Reijmerstok, only opened a year ago, only to close after ten days due to the lockdown. The confidence of the Michelin inspectors in the chef is apparently so great that, despite the limited possibilities for tasting, two stars are immediately added to the facade.
Richard van Oostenbrugge also had two stars in the past, then still in Bord’Eau in the capital Hotel De l’Europe. He started his own business in 2018, together with Thomas Groot. Insiders already expected that they would immediately receive two stars for Restaurant 212, but to their disappointment they had to wait another three years for that. The joy will be tremendous now, especially at this time of closure.
