Eriks Dreibants, the owner of the “Cook’s House”, says that he has no idea who could have been the Michelin inspector, because they disguised themselves well, which was also confirmed by the chef’s colleagues from restaurants in other countries that have been awarded stars. However, do not hide the hope that the restaurant will be noticed, and would also be happy for the Green Star (it is awarded to restaurants that serve high-class environmentally friendly meals).
Maris Jansons does not hide that once with the restaurant “Kest” the goal was to get a star, however, he points out that there have been both ups and downs in the industry in recent years. The goal is not lost, however, he would be surprised to “get a star right away.”
The chef adds: “A Michelin star is not an Olympic medal that you win, put on a shelf and enjoy. You can easily lose a star, so getting it is an additional responsibility, growth… As Mārtiņš Sirmais says, there are only two types of restaurants – empty and full.”
On the other hand, the owner of the “36th line” restaurant, chef Lauris Aleksejevs says: “You can’t get a star if you don’t strive for it”.
The chefs have their own visions of who deserves the high rating, however, to know which predictions were true and which restaurants in the opinion of the Michelin inspectors will deserve the highest ratings, we have to wait for the official announcement, which will take place on November 21.
