MUNICH – De DTM will be exclusively fitted with Michelin tires in the 2021 season. The organizers of the international racing series and the French manufacturer reached an agreement on this last week. Michelin has been an integral part of motorsport for decades and is one of the largest tire manufacturers in the world. “Michelin stands for unbeatable quality and absolute premium products, which have not only been used for decades on the road, but also at the forefront of racing. From a drivers and teams point of view and to create the best conditions for our racing series you can only wish for this ??, said Gerhard Berger.
“Michelin is very pleased to partner with the DTM,” said Julien Vial, Michelin Customer Racing Director. “It is a truly international series of world-class drivers and renowned car brands. We will equip this premium field with the MICHELIN Pilot Sport GT S9M, which is designed for high performance and exceptional consistency.” The Michelin tires will be used for the first time during the DTM test drives on 7 and 8 April 2021 at the Hockenheimring and from 4 to 6 May 2021 at the Lausitzring. The season starts on June 18 in Monza (live on SAT.1 and grid.dtm.com).
