Michelin 2024 Italian Restaurant Awards: Three-Star Winners and Regional Rankings

Two stars also for Andrea Aprea in Milan, the Campanian chef of origin and Milanese by adoption already “two-starred” at the Vun restaurant; for George Restaurant in Naples with chef Domenico Candela in the roof garden of the Grand Hotel Parker’s and for Piazzetta Milù in Castellammare di Stabia, with chef Maicol Izzo who also receives the Michelin Special Award Young Chef 2024 (by Lavazza). Moreover, the share of young people is very significant: among the new entries there are 11 chefs under 35 (4 under 30) including the newly three-starred Fabrizio Mellino (33 years old): «Campania has so much biodiversity and I had to go outside to understand how much is this worth to then return as chef patron”, he said during the awards ceremony.

Confirmation for all three-starred winners

«This is a record edition that gives the measure of an Italian cuisine full of vitality and talent – ​​commented Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin guides -. The 2024 selection includes 395 starred restaurants with 33 new ones, among which two new three-star restaurants stand out.”

A new stage of growth therefore for fine dining on the peninsula, often at the center of criticism for its controversial economic sustainability, but which apparently never stops finding winning formulas, such as the one that links food and wine to luxury hospitality. Furthermore, recognitions that cannot fail to be a flagship for Italian cuisine in the world (and its candidacy as a UNESCO World Heritage Site), which in recent days is being celebrated all over the world with over a thousand dedicated events.

Restaurants that are “worth a trip” are confirmed: Villa Crespi in Orta San Giulio (Novara) by Antonino Cannavacciuolo (last year’s new entry), Piazza Duomo in Alba (Cuneo) by Enrico Crippa, Da Vittorio a Brusaporto (Bergamo) by the brothers Cerea, Le Calandre a Rubano (Padua) by Massimiliano Alajmo, Dal Pescatore a Canneto sull’Oglio (Mantua) by Giovanni Santini, Osteria Francescana (Modena) by Francesco Bottura, Enoteca Pinchiorri (Florence), La Pergola (Rome) chef Heinz Beck , Reale in Castel di Sangro (L’Aquila) by Niko Romito, Uliassi in Senigallia (Ancona) and Enrico Bartolini at Mudec (Milan).

Lombardy at the top, followed by Campania

In the ranking by region, Lombardy maintains its leadership with 60 restaurants (3 three stars, 6 two stars, 51 one star), Campania confirms itself in second place with 51 restaurants (1 three stars, 8 two stars, 42 one Stella), while on the third step of the podium is Tuscany with 41 restaurants (1 three stars, 5 two stars, 35 one star). Piedmont slips into fourth place with 40 restaurants (2 three stars, 4 two stars, 34 one star), while Veneto confirms fifth place with 32 starred restaurants (1 three stars, 4 two stars, 27 one star).
