1. FC Köln has a striker problem – the bosses urgently need to improve in the summer.
After the departure of Anthony Modeste, 1. FC Köln have not yet found happiness in the center of the attack. “Of course we gave up players. Tony Modeste, 20 goals last year. We could also use 20 goals in the squad now,” sporting director Christian Keller said Sport1-One pass out.
With Mark Uth and Florian Dietz, two offensive players who have been injured for a long time this season are returning for the new season – but it is doubtful whether they can solve the problem on their own. Therefore, 1. FC Köln MUST be active on the transfer market in the summer.
As possible candidates, the Bild Sven Michel and Dawid Kownacki in the room. The latter will not renew his contract with Fortuna Düsseldorf and would therefore be available on a free transfer – the prospect of not having to move and still being able to play in the Bundesliga would certainly be tempting.
Michel already knows Baumgart from their time together at SC Paderborn, where both worked very successfully together. At Union Berlin, the 32-year-old is only a reservist, which is why an option could possibly open up there. As a player type, however, he is very similar to Mark Uth, i.e. not a classic nine.
