Speaking to the television station ACTION, the candidate for the President of PaSoK, Michalis Katrinis, referring to the incident with Pavlos Polakis in the Parliament, emphasized: “If there was not the immediate and strong emotional reaction of Mrs. Linou, I am not sure that Mr. Polakis he would have been expelled from the SYRIZA parliamentary group”.
“However, in the Great Party that I am talking about, which will constitute the alternative pole of power and win the trust of the citizens, there is no place for Mr. Polakis and what he exudes or represents. The behavior of Mr. Polakis is not only politically reprehensible, it is reprehensible on a human and moral level. “Politicians must show respect and democratic ethos towards citizens and their political opponents,” he added.
“For New Democracy, public health is a burden”
Michalis Katrinis also made a special reference to what is happening in the health sector. While he pointed out that the government has left regional hospitals without doctors and is actually trying to shift its responsibilities.
“For PaSoK, public health is a good, it is a right, it is a social conquest. For New Democracy, public health is a burden that it would like to get rid of. Mr. Georgiadis yesterday posted on social media a photo with the staff of the Attica Hospital and to show that everything is going well in public hospitals. Yesterday the Attica hospital was not on duty. But Mr. Georgiadis does not have the stamina to go to the emergency room of the Attica hospital where we have 100 beds, where we have an eight-hour wait for someone to be admitted”, he emphasized about the Minister of Health and the NHS.
While he continued that “this is not the fault of the doctors, nurses and workers who give their best, but the fact that the flagship of the University and public hospitals, which is the Attica Hospital, is understaffed”.
Banking system and economy
Michalis Katrinis also mentioned the banking system. Emphasizing the fact that the role of the banking system is focused on being able to finance the real economy. In Greece this does not happen because there is no competition. In addition, the large majority of small and medium enterprises are excluded from the banking system and liquidity, he said. 98% of entrepreneurship is excluded from the banking system, as said the candidate for the President of PaSoK.
