The search for Michał began on the night of April 20-21 after he was reported missing. In the morning, in the area of Świnicka Kotlina, rescuers encountered an avalanche. Thanks to the signal from the avalanche detector, the buried person was quickly located. Michał was about 40 cm under the snow. Unfortunately, it was too late to save him.

Michał’s colleagues from KW Kraków said goodbye:

Michał was an extraordinary skier. He took part in high-mountain skiing competitions, practiced orienteering, set new lines, was a great expert on Tatra topography and authored the Ski Tour Map of the Tatra Mountains. Michał was known as an always smiling and joyful person. A helpful and obliging companion, when going on a ski trip with Michał, you could be sure that he would never leave anyone behind. A true skiing enthusiast, he never said no when asked “maybe one more go?”

Michał will forever remain in our hearts as an example of a colleague and skier, a man who loves the mountains, always willing to help and a committed member of the ski section.

Joining us in mourning and sadness, we would like to express our deepest sympathy and words of support to the family.
