 "Michal Valent Leaves Slovak Extraliga for Vlci Žilina Team in Tipos SHL")
Slovak hockey goalkeeper Michal Valent is leaving the highest Slovak competition after nine consecutive seasons. The 37-year-old goalkeeper will work in the next year in the Vlci Žilina team, which operates in the lower Tipos SHL. In the extra league, together with the play off, he caught 392 meetings.
Valent has worn the jerseys of Slovak extraliga players continuously since October 2014, when he strengthened HK Nitra. He spent three seasons under Zobor, during which he won the historic championship title with the “Corgons” in the 2015/16 season. Subsequently, he wore the jersey of Dukla Trenčín for five seasons, with whom he played in the final (2017/18), but after a seven-game battle, the players of Banská Bystrica were more successful, defending the title.
In the past year, the experienced goalkeeper worked in MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš, the team only narrowly missed participation in the qualification for participation in the playoffs. Before the upcoming year, the club from Liptov was acquired by a new owner, Róbert Ľupták, which Valent indirectly indicated on the social network as the reason for his departure:
“I’m glad that my family and I were able to spend a nice year in Liptov. We had beautiful moments. I’m sorry that we didn’t achieve what we all wanted. Last but not least, I’m sad and disappointed with how it all turned out , but I couldn’t imagine continuing in the club. Nevertheless, I wish MHk 32 only the best, and you great fans, to finally fulfill your dream of the playoffs.”
Valent will work in Žilina under the baton of coach Ernest Bokroš, who moved from Liptovský Mikuláš to Žilina. In the past seasons, the Žilina team failed to successfully complete the goal of returning to the extra league. Žilina did not succeed even on the third attempt. The Wolves lost in the playoff final with HC 19 Humenné 3:4 on matches. Two years ago they lost to Spišská Nová Ves in the final series, last year they failed in a tie with extra-league Liptovský Mikuláš.
