Michael van Gerwen qualified without any problems for the third round of the Darts World Cup in London on Tuesday. The Brabander won in three sets against the Irishman Keane Barry.
Van Gerwen had no problem with Barry and showed his class at times. ‘Mighty Mike’ asserted himself in the second set with a 167 finish. Van Gerwen thus avoided a 2-0 deficit, after which he won the set 3-1.
In the third set, Van Gerwen finished 2-0 with a 112 finish, and then finished the job in his own leg. Van Gerwen missed double-11 with his first match dart. With his second match dart he still scored.
Over three sets, Van Gerwen recorded a very decent average of 98.17 with three arrows. With his percentage on doubles he immediately sent a signal to the competition. He found the necessary double on 60 percent of his attempts.

Van Gerwen is chasing a fourth world title
