Berlin. The Sotheby’s house announced this Wednesday that it will put up for auction one of the Ferrari cars with which the German driver Michael Schumacher, seven-time world champion, completed his last season in Formula 1 in 2006 with the Scuderia.
Sotheby’s reported in a statement that it is a Ferrari 248 F1 with chassis number 254 and its auction will last until November 19. This is the fifth of a total of eight existing chassis of that model.
The car was purchased directly from Ferrari by an anonymous owner in December 2007. However, it was not stored in the garage during this time, but was instead used for individual tests at the Ferrari test track. Scuderia in Fiorano, according to reports Motorsport magazine. Despite this, it has not been filmed for more than ten years.
Although the German driver could not achieve his eighth world title that year when he was surpassed by the Spanish Fernando Alonso, then in Renault, he was able to obtain victory in five races with this car and also break the record for poles then treasured by the Brazilian Ayrton Senna.
It is not the first time that a car driven by Schumacher has come up for auction. At the end of 2022, one of his Ferraris from the 2003 season changed owners for almost 15 million euros and it is expected that this time an amount of this magnitude will be reached again.
