ENNS. City councilor Michael Reichhardt, who took over the environmental department in 2016, is running in Enns as a candidate for mayor of the Greens.
Michael Reichhardt was born in Enns in 1966 and is a physiotherapist at the Neuromed Campus KUK Linz. Shortly before his candidacy was announced, Reichhardt resigned the chairmanship of the Environment and Energy working group of the municipality of Enns. As a passionate cyclist, he is not only concerned with mobility issues, but also protecting and making the Enns recreational areas more attractive, as well as preserving valuable land and expanding the local energy supply.
Equal rights for all road users
The expansion of photovoltaic systems, embedded in a community energy plan, the promotion of energy efficiency and the exit from fossil fuels are important fields of action for Reichhardt. Reichhardt is also committed to equal rights for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians and to promote e-mobility. As mayor, he wants to focus on moderate development with sufficient green areas. The use of real estate stocks is to be accelerated in order to prevent further soil sealing.
Green spaces for cooling
On the main square there should be more zones without any pressure to consume, with sufficient shade and seating. The aim is to keep Enns cool with green spaces. A citizens’ council is also planned to give citizens the opportunity to help shape their own city. “I would like to invite everyone who lives in Enns to set the course now for a future that is suitable for children and grandchildren,” said Reichhart.
