Michael Mosley’s Expert Tips: How Fruits, Vegetables, and Fish Can Reduce the Risk of Cancer, Heart Attack, and Dementia

Michael Mosley, the famous British doctor, presented, in the recent episode of the BBC Sounds podcast, some important tips for people’s health. The expert explained how three commonly consumed foods – fruits, vegetables and fish – significantly reduce the risk of cancer, heart attack and dementia.

The doctor said that all it takes is a change in our diet to improve health and reduce the risk of disease, according to the Mirror. Dr. Mosley advises eating fatty fish at least twice a week. Fatty fish is an excellent source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to reduce chronic inflammation. He also says it’s really good for your heart and there’s some research showing it can reduce the risk of cancer or dementia. Salmon, mackerel, anchovy, sardines and herring should be eaten rather than tuna and cod. They can help you have a better mood, better sleep, a sharper brain, and reduce your risk of disease. These are all ideas that he outlines in his book, “Just One Thing: How Simple Changes Can Transform Your Life.”

Other ideas include practicing slow breathing – it helps slow your heart rate, lower blood pressure, reduce stress levels and fight anxiety – and taking a brisk walk within the first two hours of waking, which can help you sleep better good.

Taking a cold shower is also on the list, with Dr Mosley suggesting that at the end of your shower you should turn the tap on cold for ten seconds to boost your immune system. It can help reduce stress, improve cardiovascular health and strengthen the immune system.

We should also try to dance ten minutes a day. Dancing and trying new routines have been shown to be more effective than traditional fitness exercises for improving muscles, balance and brain health. It has been shown to help with depression, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, boost memory and protect against dementia.
