Michael Kiwanuka is according to BBC News this year’s winner of the Mercury Prize, the prize awarded to the British artist who made the best album of the past year. Dua Lipa, Stormzy and Charli XCX, among others, have also been nominated.
Kiwanuka wins the award for his album, released in November 2019 Kiwanuka. It is his third album and also his third nomination for the British music award. It is the first time that he has won it.

The Mercury Prize has been awarded annually since 1992 and for the first time more female than male artists were nominated. The prize includes a sum of 25,000 pounds (more than 27,000 euros).
