“Blanket” is 19 today – and it shows up

His real name is Prince Michael Jackson II. But everyone knows Michael Jackson’s younger son only as “Blanket”. He also adopted the name “Bigi”. In contrast to his two siblings, he avoids the public for a long time. But now he’s reappearing – as a 19-year-old and with a message.
The nickname he was given is quite unusual: “Blanket”, in German “Blanket”. It was awarded to him because he was usually only seen in public with a blanket over his head. His father Michael Jackson tried to protect him from prying eyes and the cameras of the paparazzi.

The nickname stuck. Likewise, the scene when father Michael held the boy, who was just a few months old, out of the window of his suite on the fifth floor of the Berlin Adlon Hotel. And the pictures that showed “Blanket”, who was only seven years old at the time, at the funeral service for his father, who died in 2009.
But then Prince Michael Jackson II, as “Blanket” is actually called, in contrast to his two older half-siblings Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., called Prince, and Paris largely withdrew from the limelight. For some time now, however, he too has been showing up again. Last year, for example, photos of his 18th birthday made the rounds. And something else has changed: The now 19-year-old no longer wants to be called “Blanket”, but instead relies on another nickname: Bigi.
As such, he has now also made a TV appearance the likes of which he has not given for a long time. Bigi Jackson used the “Good Morning Britain” format for this. He appeared in a clip of the show produced by the British broadcaster ITV, which addressed the Halloween party “Thriller Night”. This is organized every year by Bigi’s brother Prince in cooperation with the “Heal Los Angeles” foundation, which is committed to promoting young people in the US metropolis.
The venue for the party was the Jackson family’s Hayvenhurst estate in the US state of California. In an interview during the event, Bigi Jackson also spoke about his father: “There is a lot of history in this house and in the studio. That was what it was about. This is what each of us wants to do – create things that inspire people and who make their life a little better. “
With a view to the current world climate summit in Glasgow, Bigi Jackson, who is barely recognizable with long hair and beard, also emphasized his passion for environmental protection: “I think it is important that we all know about it. We still have a lot to do but our generation knows how important that is. “
Bigi Jackson was born to Michael Jackson on February 21, 2002 as the third child. Who his mother is is unknown. His half-brother Prince was born in 1997, his half-sister Paris in 1998. Her mother is Deborah Jeanne Rowe.
